Early December Is the Best Time to Travel

Early December, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the best time to travel during the year. Foxnews.com looks at why this week presents itself to bargain hunters and those looking to get away before the holidays. They write in the article, “At Hotwire, we’re constantly analyzing data to find the best times and destinations for planning a money-saving getaway. What became clear in our research is that a major pricing sweet spot lands right in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This period marks some of the slowest weeks in the travel industry, which results in dramatic price drops. Most corporate and leisure travelers are putting the majority of their money, energy and time toward traveling for either or both holidays so overall demand is at its lowest. That leaves airplane seats, hotel rooms and rental cars empty and available, and suppliers discount heavily to attract business.”

In general, more people are willing to spend more during the holiday season. They save up before and after, but look to splurge a little and enjoy themselves before Christmas arrives. But who doesn’t enjoy savings, even when you’re willing to spend more money. The below savings are calculated by comparing Hotwire Hot Rates for select destinations during peak season (7/1-10/1) against Hotwire Hot Rates the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas (11/26-12/18) and were posted in the same article by foxnews.com.

You will notice Orange County, CA is on the top ten as well as many of the popular destinations around the country. The more money you save on airfare and hotel costs, the more money you can devote to treating yourself, like a limo or town car service.
